On the news, gordon brown said that he was going to build more nuclear power plants in the uk, only they would be safe and stable. How can they be stable? It is hard to control the stability of uranium and plutonium.
May i add that i don’t mind where we get the fuel from, even if it is foreign. If it makes us safe and saves the environment, then we should rely on foreign fuel!

With a coal burning plant, the parts that break down can be replaced at a cost typically less than building a new plant, unless a bunch of parts break down at once. Why is it that nuclear power plants have a shorter, more definite “expiration date”?

What if an earthquake happened? What if an airplane hit them? or any other natural disaster? Is it a possability that we all could be nuked? I don’t care how reenforced the steal is, they thought the titanic wouldn’t sink too. I used to think Obama was a good canidate. Now that he is agreeing with Johns idea to build nuclear plants, I’m beganing to second guess myself. What do you think? Think its a good idea to build nuclear plants? Sounds like a lab experiment that could go really bad, really quickly to me.

Coal and other fuels produce tonnes of co2 every year. Half of all co2 created in the US is from power generation from coal power plants.

By replacing these coal plants with nuclear, green house gases could be reduced a whopping 50% because nuclear power creates no green house gases and very little waste.

Would you be in favor of building more nuclear power plants to replace coal plants, or are you scared of modern technology?

I remember doing a project on this a long time ago but I can’t remember. What comes out of the pillars of a nuclear power plant is it steam from the nuclear fusion/fission or is it smoke?

If we had enough nuclear power plants that would be the first step towards ending our need for foreign oil. France and Germany are more than 10 years ahead of us in that respect. All forms of energy consumption comes at a cost, However new advances in Nuclear technology greatly reduce the chances of a catastrophic failure. What do you think.
