Whoa!!!

In a new television ad McCain launched yesterday, Republican John McCain compares his plan to make the country energy independent by 2025 to President Kennedy’s 1961 declaration to put a man on the moon.

“The real ‘purpose’ of John McCain’s ad is to rewrite the history of how he has repeatedly stood in the way of responsible efforts to make America less dependent on foreign oil and create green jobs,” Democratic National Committee communications director Karen Finney said in a statement. “In his 25 years in Washington, Senator McCain has been a part of the problem, not the solution on energy independence. Instead of political gimmicks and special interest giveaways, John McCain should offer a real plan that promotes green jobs, breaks our dependence on foreign oil, and invests in America’s future.”

Lots of people (Obama is a notable exception) are calling for either a Manhattan Project or a moon project for energy. In either case, these are calls to view the issue in a positive way as an engineering problem that can be solved with a concerted effort and well-coordinated project plan. Is there something about this that you don’t like? Do you prefer to wring your hands and feel stymied by each little stumbling block?

I am not surprised. McCain is shameless.

both parties have called this problem something that has to be addressed in the same manner. a call for all Americans to come together and excel as only we can. a call for national unity to solve a problem. mccaain has opened the door for almost every option except for anwr drilling. he has made short term and long term options available to the American people. obama has only offered a solution that will happen in 2030 and as for right now, tax, tax, tax. mcaain has a plan. obama has already taken offshore drilling and nuclear power off the table. those are the two that could help us the quickest. and how many jobs do you think these drilling and nuclear projects would create. 10’s of thousands. and it is the dems being puppeteered by the enviormenatist for the past thirty years that has stopped us from being in a positive energy situation now.
